The
Canadian Jewish Virtual Museum and Archives is set up as a
database which allows users to search by topic for information
about Jewish culture and Jewish life in Canada. The site's contents
can be accessed through the buttons labelled Museum, Vignettes, and Archives on the toolbar at the top of the page.
The "Museum" section showcases Jewish artifacts and ceremonial art. In "Vignettes" various Canadian Jewish themes are explored through descriptive texts and videos. Under "Archives" one can find documents and photographs which illustrate historical events and epochs.
This site was initially created with the help of a grant received from Canadian Heritage in 2002. Since 2004 we have begun to expand the database to include contributions from Jewish archives and museums across Canada. We encourage the donation of artifacts and images from Canadian-wide Jewish organisations. More background on the project can be found on the credits page.
