This database contains
images from the Museum and Archives of the Congregation
Shaar Hashomayim of Montreal, a large and varied collection
which illustrates many themes, notably Jewish religion
and culture, Canadian Jewish history, and social relations
in Montreal For more detailed explorations of these
themes, see the "Vignettes" section of this
site.
Newly added to this section
are images of publicly displayed ritual art items
placed in Canadian synagogues and community buildings,
as documented and photographed by Barbara Weiser.
